Japanese Small Salt Storage Pot Jar Canister with Lid

Always have just the right pinch of salt at hand. Dry salt stays dry & sea salt stays moist in this porous clay jar w/ lid. The pot absorbs water out of the salt, yet keeps the humidity in the pot constant to keep the salt in a usable condition. In order to do this, the salt jar is not glazed w/ a glassy glaze like conventional pottery. Instead, the outside is scraped & a thin layer of ceramic clay is applied as a "glaze." The inside is not glazed at all. If the home is particularly humid, shake jar occasionally to prevent salt from hardening. Salt crystals may appear at the bottom of the pot. Wipe off and/or keep the pot set on a cloth/pad.
Size: base measures approx. 2 3/4" high x 2 3/8" D (at the top opening) & 1 3/4" in D (at the base) & 3 1/4" at most bulbous part. Holds approx. 190 ml. Care: hand wash using baking soda or boiling water. When using detergents, be mindful of any fragrances that could transfer into the pot.
