Public opening reception 8/25 from 6-8:00 PM

August 25th-October 15th, 2023

Capacity Contemporary Exchange

The small details of the natural world provide the understory of Paula's mixed-media practice: In these fiber pieces, she was inspired by the symmetry of wood-pecker-holed bark, combined with shibori-dyed silk, and a close-up photo of a rock face in Bandelier National Park, New Mexico.  Stitching, paint, and digital printing allow for possibilities of mirroring and symmetry, arriving at a new place in the story that’s both surprising and mysterious.

Paula Keppie  is an artist, poet, and writer.  Her mixed media fiber works, sculptures and installations are influenced by the codes she finds in the natural world, by ritual and story making.  Keppie has received six creation grants as both a visual artist and poet.

She has had solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions.  Keppie’s poetry and essays are found in journals and anthologies, and her art is in public and private collections across the U.S. and Canada.  Currently, she lives and practices her art in Prospect KY.
